A total number of 66 day old Japanese quail chicks were reared on floor and in cage rearing&#13;
system for a period of 5 weeks to know the effect of rearing system on growth and carcass&#13;
characteristics. At the age of 35 days, average body weight and feed intake were 102.15 and&#13;
320.71 g/quail for cage rearing system and 78.41 and 241.89g/quail for floor rearing system&#13;
respectively. FCR were 3.89 and 4.10 for cage rearing system and floor rearing system&#13;
respectively, at the age of 35 days. Body weight, feed intake and FCR were significantly&#13;
different between cage and floor rearing system. At the age of 21 and 35 days survivability&#13;
were 72.72 and 72.72 % for cage rearing system and 63.63 and 60.60 % for floor rearing&#13;
system respectively. There was higher survivability in cage than floor rearing system in 35&#13;
days. In case of meat yield characteristics, average weight of breast, thigh, wing, drum stick&#13;
were 20.92, 7.37, 5.42 and 5.72 g for cage and 20.84, 7.35, 5.39 and 5.63 g for floor&#13;
respectively. There were no significant difference among average weight of breast, thigh&#13;
and drum stick between two rearing system and in case of sex. But in case of average wing&#13;
weight there were significant difference among sex. It may be concluded from this study&#13;
that cage reared quails showed better performance compared to littered floor rearing system&#13;
in Sylhet district.

The present study was carried out to know the hatchability percentage and profitability of&#13;
ducklings production through rice husk incubator among nine farmers of different groups  ( small,&#13;
medium and large) of farmers in Dirai, Doarabajar, Jamalgonj and Sunamgonj Sadar upazilla of&#13;
Sunamgonj District  during 1 February 2014 ( 19 Magh 1420) to 31 May 2014 (17 Joistho 1421)&#13;
those are traditionally produce Day Old Ducklings (DODs) through rice husk incubator. The&#13;
large, medium, and small farmer groups having the capacity to produce (&gt; 3000 DODs), (20013000&#13;
&#13;
DODs), and (1500-2000 DODs) per month respectively. Different five hatches were&#13;
counted for each farmer.  It was observed that average hatchability percentage among small,&#13;
medium, and large groups was (66.20±2.49), (67.59±2.55), and (65.83±2.97) respectively.&#13;
Average fertility percentage among small, medium, and large groups was (86.85± 1.38),&#13;
(83.7±2.06), and (85±1.10) respectively. Average embryonic death percentage among small,&#13;
medium and large groups was (24±3.12), (19.54±1.89), and (22.63±2.63), respectively and&#13;
average profitability percentage among small, medium and large groups was (68.64±18.75),&#13;
(71.5±11.3), and  (29.66±12.6) respectively. There were no effect on fertility and hatchability&#13;
among the farmer groups. Profitability was significantly higher in small and medium groups than&#13;
large farmer group.

The research work was carried out on performance of sonali chicken through feed&#13;
supplementation under scavenging condition at Haluagram village in Sunamganj district of&#13;
Sylhet, Bangladesh. Hundred sonali hens (♂Rhode Island Red x ♀ Fayoumi) were distributed&#13;
among 20 farmers at 15 weeks of age. Four different treatments were given in four different level&#13;
of feed supplementation of rice. In each treatment consist of five farmers. Control (T0) was no&#13;
supplementary feed, treatment 1 (T1) was 30 g supplementary feed, treatment 2 (T2) was 60 g&#13;
supplementary feed, treatment 3 (T3) was 100 g supplementary feed with scavenging. Body&#13;
weight and weight gain were significantly higher in T3 than the others. Similarly total body&#13;
weight gain was significantly (P&lt;0.05) higher in T3 treatments and lower in T0. Again, Significant&#13;
differences (P&lt;0.05) were found in body weight at 34 weeks. In laying period body weight was&#13;
significantly higher in T3 than the other treatments and lowest in T1. In case of feed conversion&#13;
ratio was no significant differences among the different treatments. The egg production was no&#13;
significant differences among the different treatments. Though the egg production of control&#13;
group was also lower. The egg weight was significantly higher in T3 than other treatments and the&#13;
lowest value in T0. But similar egg weights were found between T1 and T3. High mortality&#13;
percentage was found in T0 but lower in T1 during growing period. But similar mortality&#13;
percentage were T2 and T3. During study period the laying was higher mortality percentage in T2&#13;
and lower was T1 and T3. The farmers were more benefited by the 30g supplementation compare&#13;
to the others. Present results also indicate that at least 30 g of available feed supplementation&#13;
needed for the scavenging crossbred birds for viable egg production, good feed conversion ratio&#13;
and more profitable, because the scavenging feed is also dependent on available feed resources&#13;
around the farmer’s house of hoar areas.

Three experiments were conducted to evaluate nutrient availability, body composition of semi scavenging&#13;
Giribaz pigeon and meat yield of their squab. The average DM, CP, CF, EE, ash, NFE, Ca and Av. P in crop and&#13;
gizzard contents of male and female pigeon were 716.75, 108.50, 50.55, 15.90, 49.60, 574.25, 0.54 and 0.22&#13;
g/kg, respectively. The ME contents was 14.20 MJ/kg DM. The average live weight was 297.30g for male&#13;
pigeon and 267.70g for female pigeon. Dressing percentage, total meat, breast meat, head and gizzard were&#13;
62.60, 34.52, 23.63, 3.09 and 1.91% for male pigeon and 56.80, 28.22, 19.45, 4.24 and 2.63% for female pigeon&#13;
respectively. Live weight, dressing percentage, total meat and breast meat were (11.06, 5.80, 6.30 and 4.18%)&#13;
higher (P&lt;0.01) in males than females. While, females had heavier (P&lt;0.01) head and gizzard (1.15 and 0.72 %)&#13;
than males. Total meat, breast meat and wing meat were increased (P&lt;0.01) with advancement of age of squab.&#13;
Proportionate bone weight had no relation (P&gt;0.05) with age. On the other hand, dressing percentage, total meat&#13;
and breast meat were increased (P&lt;0.01) with the increasing live weight. Weight of drumstick meat and total&#13;
bone (neck weight+ wing bone+ vertebral column weight+ thigh bone + drumstick bone) did not maintain any&#13;
relation (P&lt;0.05) with live weight. It is concluded that feeds in crop and gizzard of pigeon were low in CP, EE,&#13;
NFE, Ash, Ca and Av. P but higher in CF and ME. Live weight had pronounced effects on dressing percentage,&#13;
total meat and breast meat in both adult and squab pigeons. Supplemental diet like CP, EE, NFE, Ash, Ca and&#13;
Av. P were rich, whereas low in CF that could increase the production of semi scavenging pigeon. Nutrient&#13;
availability and body composition between male and female pigeon is apparently negligible difference.
