    Effects of nutrition on body condition score and hematological profile of cross bred cattle

    Abstract
    Investigation was performed to determine the effects of nutrition on different physiological parameters of the cross-bred heifers. The research work was conducted using randomly selected twelve 3.0 to 4.0 years old healthy cyclic Holstein x Friesian Cross-bred heifers of either F₁, F₂ or F, generation. Twelve heifers were grouped randomly as group To. T. and T. Each group comprised of four animals. Group To (Control), T, and T, were fed with standard, 40% and 60% restricted feeding, respectively. Their body condition score (BCS), body weight (BW) and hematological parameters were recorded from the first day of treatment. Body condition score (BCS), body weight (BW) were recorded and blood sample was collected for observing the hematological parameters and serum percentage of experimental animals was recorded from the first day of treatment. Data were collected at 3 days interval to investigate the desired parameters. No significant changes were found on the mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) and total leukocyte count (TLC). The values of BCS, BW, total erythrocyte count (TEC), hemoglobin (Hb) content and packed cell volume (PCV) decreased significantly (p<0.05) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and serum percentage increased significantly (p<0.05) in the animals of T, and T₂ compared to the control group (Ta). The value of mean corpuscular volume (MCV) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) in the animals of T; increased significantly (p<0.05) than that of control (To). From the present study, it was revealed that the amount of feeds was very important in improving the hematological profile, which leads general health condition of animals.
