dc.description.abstract | Newcastle disease is a devastating poultry disease all over the world including Bangladesh.
The present study was conducted to investigate the comparative efficacy of ND live vaccines
Cevac New L
(F strain) in pigeons during the period from
January, 2014 to June, 2014. For the purposes of this experiment 60 pigeons were purchased
from different places of Sylhet without no history of vaccination against ND. The pigeons
were divided into 3 groups. In groups A (n=20) and B (n=20), vaccination was performed
twice with Cevac New L
®
(La Sota strain) and BCRDV
®
at day 5 and 21 of age i/o, while group C (n=20)
remained unvaccinated control. Serum antibody titre was evaluated by the means of
hemagglutination inhibition test (HI) at day 4, 12, 19, 28, 35, 42 and 49 of age. It was
observed that Maternal derived antibody level started to decline after day 4 and reached at a
trace level after 28 days. MDA level became totally zero at day 42 of age. The Mean±SD of
HI titre (log2
X
®
and BCRDV
®
) of group A and B were 4.75±0.64, 5.65±0.59, 6.85±0.67,
7.55±0.51,6.35±0.67, 5.20±0.77 and 4.40±0.75, 5.10±0.72, 6.60±0.68, 6.95±0.69, 5.90±0.64
and 4.65±0.67 at day12, 19, 28, 35, 42 and 49 of post vaccination respectively. It was
observed that serum Ab level was gradually increased from day 12 to day 35 and declined
slowly after day 42 in both groups, leading to good protection to the pigeon against ND.
There was a significant (p<0.05) differences between the HI titre of group A and B at day 19,
(La Sota Strain) found
better than BCRDV
35, 42 and 49 of age. From the result, it revealed that Cevac New L
®
®
(F strain) in respect of HI Ab titres response. | en_US |
