    Abstract
Three different experiments were conducted comprising eight lablab bean genotypes grown in late kharif, rabi and early kharif seasons of 2013 to 2014 at the experimental field of Horticulture Department, Sylhet Agricultural University, Sylhet. Differences in relation to seed colour, cotyledon colour, seed shape, flower colour, petiole and inflorescence length, pod shape, size etc. were observed among the genotypes. The genotypes SB003, IPSA Sheem-2, SB008 and SB010-1 had reddish brown seed coat colour while it was black for SB010, BARI Sheem-1 and SB011. The genotype BP003 had reddish colour. 100-dry seed weight was ranged from 30.00 g (BARI Sheem-1) to 42.00 g (SB011). Variation in pod and seed yield potentiality was found among five lablab bean genotypes viz., SB003, BP003, IPSA Sheem-2, SB008 and SB010 when grown in late kharif season. The genotype SB010 produced the maximum number of pods per plant (562.3) followed by SB008 (381.3). Similar trend was also noticed in per plant pod yield among the genotypes. The highest pod yield was recorded from the genotype SB010 (20.46 t/ha) while it was the lowest for the genotype IPSA Sheem-2 (6.26 t/ha). For seed production potentiality, the genotype SB010 produced the highest amount of seed per plant (451.76 g) since it produced the maximum number of dry pods per plant (228.67). Per hectare seed yield varied from 1.0 t to 3.0 t. Variations in yield and yield attributes of five genotypes viz. SB003, BP003, SB008, SB010 and BARI Sheem-1 when grown in rabi season were also remarkable. Number of pods per plant was varied from 176.7 (SB003) to 263.3 (SB008). The highest pod yield per plant was recorded from the genotype BP003 (1.78 kg) closely followed by SB008 (1.68 kg) indicating BP003 might be suitable for rabi season sowing. In rabi season sowing the genotype SB008 produced maximum number of dry pod per plant (141.18) as well as maximum seed yield per plant (242.97 g) while it was the lowest for the genotype SB003 (124.42 g/plant). Pod yield and yield attributes of four photo-insensitive lablab bean genotypes were varied when grown in early kharif season of 2014. The genotype SB003 produced the maximum number of pod per plant (206.3) followed by BP003 (127.3) while it was the minimum for the genotype SB011 (92.67). The corresponding maximum pod yield was also recorded from SB003 (1.16 kg/plant). However, pod yield in early kharif season ranged from 2.87 t to 7.73 t per hectare indicating bright scope to popularize lablab bean production during summer season in Sylhet region.
