SURVEY ON DISEASES OF CITRUS SPECIES AT SYLHET REGION
Abstract
A survey was conducted during November to December 2014 at the Regional Agricultural
Research Station (RARS) Akbarpur and two other farmers’ orchards to collect information on
diseases affecting different citrus crops. Seventeen species of citrus viz. BARI Satkara-1,
Pomelo, BARI Kamala-1, BARI Malta-1, Sweet Orange, Jara Lebu, Long Jara Lebu, Alachi
Lebu, Rough Lemon, Lime, Ashkor Lebu, Citrumelo, Cleopatra Mandarin, BARI Batabi
Lebu-3, BARI lebu-1, Mandarin and China Lebu were studied closely and data were
collected. A marked variation was observed among the species for their disease reactions.
Greening, die-back and scab were highly prevailing diseases and they showed a significant
variation in their incidences and severity from species to species. Rough lemon solely showed
the highest incidence (95%) for greening but in combination with die-back and scab BARI
Satkara-1 (55%) and Mandarin (46.66%) showed higher incidence. In case of Die-back BARI
Kamala-1 (93.3) and Lime (93.3%) showed higher incidence. BARI Satkara-1 (50%) had
higher Scab disease. China lebu always showed a lower incidence and severity in RARS
orchards but a higher percentage in farmers’ orchards.
