    Abstract
The experiment was conducted in the department of Plant Pathology and Seed Science, Sylhet Agricultural University, Sylhet to evaluate the effect of different chemicals and botanical fungicides in controlling foot and root rot disease of chickpea. In lab experiment, different fungal pathogens were detected from the collected chickpea seed samples by blotter test method. The detected pathogens were Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Penicillium spp., Fusarium spp., Botrytis cinerea, Rhizopus stolonifer, Alternaria alternata. Pre sowing seed treatment was done with different chemicals and botanicals viz. Bavistin 70 WP, Iprozim 26 WP, Qubee 50 WP, Neem leaf extract (1:4), Biskatali leaf extract (1:4), Marigold leaf extract (1:4) and control. Bavistin 70 WP@ 2.5g/kg was found to be the most effective in controlling seed borne fungi in chickpea. In the field experiment, same treatments were applied following Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 3 replications. The lowest (4%, 3.33% and 2.33%) seedling mortality was observed in Bavistin 70 WP sprayed plot at 10, 20 and 30 DAS respectively. The Lowest (33.37%) disease severity and the highest (1600kg/ha) yield was obtained by spraying Bavistin 70 WP@ 1g/lit with an increase of 52.38% grain yield.
