Comparative efficacy of three indigenous medicainal plants (neem, turmeric, henna) with a patent drug nebanol against artifically induced wounds in sheep
Abstract
Abstract
Investigation was performed to determine the efficacy of Turmeric, Neem, Henna and an antibiotic Nebanol in the treatment of artificially induced wound. 2.5 cm length and 0.5 cm depth wounds were made on one side of the midline plane at the lumber region, and the effects of Turmeric, Neem, Henna and an antibiotic Nebanol were observed. In this experiment Turmeric, Neem. Henna were used for wound healing in paste form and applied twice daily. In comparison to their effect, Turmeric paste showed the most effectiveness, where healing was completed in 14 days. Neem paste showed 15 days. The Henna paste was comparatively less effective, in which healing occurred in 18 days. In case of control groups more time (21 days) required for healing. The antibacterial powder (Nebanol) which was used for wound healing took 16 days for completing wound healing.
